Search & Command Palette

Search everything and run quick actions from anywhere with Ctrl+K.

CrownSync Playbooks includes a command palette that combines global search with quick actions — one keystroke to find anything across the platform or jump straight to what you need to do next. It is designed for speed, so you can locate information and act on it during an active incident without navigating through multiple pages.

Opening the Palette with Ctrl+K

Press Ctrl+K (or Cmd+K on macOS) from any page, or click the search button in the top navigation bar. The palette opens as a modal overlay; press Escape to close it without navigating away. Start typing to filter both search results and commands at once.

Commands & Quick Actions

Beyond search, the palette lists commands filtered to your role and your organisation's enabled features:

  • Quick actions— declare an incident, start a drill, export playbooks as PDF, invite a team member, or verify a document.
  • Navigation— jump to the dashboard, playbooks, incidents, communications, notifications, marketplace, docs, support, or settings.
  • Admin, partner and platform sections— organisation admins see their full admin menu; partner members see the partner portal pages; the platform administrator sees platform admin pages.
  • Switch organisation— members of more than one organisation can switch the active organisation directly from the palette.
  • Appearance and language— toggle light, dark or system theme, and switch between English and Cymraeg.

What Is Searchable

The global search indexes the following content types:

  • Playbook sections— Both the section titles and the full content of all sections across your active playbooks. This includes customised content as well as baseline text.
  • Playbook titles and descriptions— The name and summary of each playbook in your catalogue.
  • Incident records— Incident titles, descriptions, timeline entries, and logged actions from both active and closed incidents.
  • Communication templates— The titles and content of all 20+ pre-built communication templates.
  • Documentation— All pages in this documentation site, including titles, descriptions, and full page content.
  • Team members and collaborators— Names and email addresses of team members and external collaborators.

Result Categories

Search results are grouped into categories to help you quickly identify the type of content you are looking for:

  • Playbooks— Results from playbook titles, descriptions, and section content. Each result shows the playbook name, section title, and a snippet of matching text.
  • Incidents— Results from incident records. Each result shows the incident title, severity level, and status.
  • Communications— Results from communication templates. Each result shows the template name and category.
  • Documentation— Results from the documentation site. Each result shows the page title and section.
  • People— Results matching team member or collaborator names and email addresses.

Results are ranked by relevance within each category. The most relevant category is shown first, with other categories following.

Keyboard Navigation

The search dialog is fully keyboard-accessible:

  • and arrow keys — Move through the list of results
  • Enter — Navigate to the selected result
  • Escape — Close the search dialog
  • Tab — Move focus between the search input and the results list

The currently selected result is highlighted with a visual indicator, and screen readers announce the result title and category as you navigate.

Quick navigation

You can type a few characters and use the arrow keys to quickly jump to the result you want. The search updates results as you type, so you often find what you need after just three or four characters.

Search Tips

To get the most out of global search:

  • Use specific terms— Searching for “ICO notification” is more effective than searching for “notification” alone.
  • Search for acronyms— The search recognises common acronyms like BEC, DDoS, FCA, and DSPT.
  • Search during incidents— Use search to quickly locate the relevant playbook section for the current phase of your response.
  • Find people— Search for a team member's name to quickly find their profile and see which sections they are responsible for.
