Browsing the Playbook Library

Navigate the catalogue, filter by category, and find relevant playbooks.

The playbook catalogue is your central library for browsing all available incident response playbooks. Whether you are looking for a specific threat scenario or exploring what coverage your subscription includes, the catalogue page provides the tools to find what you need quickly.

The Catalogue Page

Navigate to the catalogue from the main sidebar or by clicking Browse Playbooks on your dashboard. The page displays all playbooks available within CrownSync Playbooks, organised as a grid of cards. Each card shows:

  • The playbook title (e.g., “Ransomware Infection”, “Business Email Compromise”)
  • A brief description of the incident scenario it covers
  • The category it belongs to (e.g., Malware, Social Engineering, Data Breach)
  • The number of phases and sections within the playbook
  • Your current access level — whether you have full access (trial or subscribed) or need to subscribe

Category Filters

Above the grid, a row of filter buttons allows you to narrow the display by category. Available categories include:

  • All — Shows every playbook in the catalogue
  • Malware — Ransomware, wiper malware, trojans, and other malicious software
  • Social Engineering — Business email compromise, phishing, vishing, and pretexting
  • Data Breach — Unauthorised data access, exfiltration, and accidental disclosure
  • Infrastructure — DDoS attacks, cloud compromise, and network intrusion
  • Insider Threat — Malicious or negligent insider actions
  • Supply Chain — Third-party and vendor-related incidents

Selecting a category filter instantly updates the grid to show only matching playbooks. You can also combine this with the global search for more precise results.

Personalised Badges

Playbook cards display personalised badges based on your organisation's profile. These badges help you understand how relevant each playbook is to your specific environment:

  • Recommended— The playbook is highly relevant to your sector, tech stack, or regulatory obligations. For example, a healthcare organisation will see the “Data Breach — Patient Records” playbook marked as recommended.
  • Regulatory— The playbook contains sections triggered by one or more of your regulatory flags (FCA, DSPT, PCI DSS, etc.).
  • New— The playbook was recently added to the platform.
  • Updated— The baseline content has been refreshed since you last viewed it.

Free Trial Access

All playbooks are available during your free trial. When you create a CrownSync account, your organisation receives a 14-day trial with full, unrestricted access to all 42 playbooks, including PDF exports, drill mode, and collaboration features.

After the trial period, subscribe to maintain access to all playbooks and features. Visit Subscription Management for details on setting up a subscription.

Trial access

During your 14-day trial, every playbook in the catalogue is fully accessible with no restrictions. After the trial, an active subscription is required to continue accessing playbooks, exports, and collaboration features.

Getting Full Access

If your trial has ended and you need continued access, contact the CrownSync team at [email protected] or click Start Free Trial from any playbook card to begin the process.

Partner-managed organisations should contact their technology partner to arrange continued access, as the partner may manage subscriptions on your behalf.
