Executive Summary Reports

Generate board-level reports on playbook readiness and incident history.

Executive Summary Report

The Executive Summary report provides a high-level overview of your organisation's incident response readiness, designed for board meetings, governance committees, and senior leadership reviews. It consolidates key metrics from across the platform into a single, professional document that demonstrates your organisation's preparedness posture.

What the Report Includes

The Executive Summary report contains the following sections:

Playbook Coverage

A summary of your organisation's playbook portfolio, including how many playbooks are active, which threat categories are covered, and any gaps in coverage. The report highlights playbooks that have been customised versus those using default content, and flags any playbooks that have not been reviewed within your recommended review cycle.

Drill History

A summary of tabletop exercises conducted, including the playbooks tested, dates, participant counts, completion times, and key findings. This section demonstrates that your team regularly tests its incident response procedures, which is a requirement for ISO 27001 and a strong indicator of readiness for Cyber Essentials assessors and insurance underwriters.

Incident Record

A summary of incidents declared on the platform, including severity levels, categories, resolution times, and regulatory notifications made. Sensitive details are summarised rather than reproduced in full, making the report suitable for board-level circulation.

Recommendations

Based on your organisation's activity, the report generates actionable recommendations. These may include:

  • Playbooks that should be reviewed or updated
  • Threat categories without playbook coverage
  • Drills that are overdue or have not been conducted recently
  • Sections that have been customised but not reviewed by legal
  • Team members who have not participated in recent drills

Generating the Report

To generate an Executive Summary report:

  1. Navigate to Admin → Executive Summary
  2. Select the reporting period (e.g. last quarter, last 12 months, custom date range)
  3. Click Generate Report
  4. Review the report in the on-screen preview

Exporting for Board Meetings

The Executive Summary can be exported as a signed PDF with the same security features as playbook exports — including watermarks, classification markings, and a QR verification code. This makes the report suitable for formal board packs and governance documentation.

To export, click the Export PDFbutton from the report preview. The exported PDF uses your organisation's PDF branding settings including your logo and classification marking.

Quarterly Board Reporting

Many governance frameworks recommend quarterly reporting on cyber security readiness. Schedule a recurring reminder to generate and review the Executive Summary before each board meeting to ensure your leadership team has current information on your incident response posture.
